Apostle Dr. Michael L. Hargett, Sr. PhD was born in Newark, New Jersey in June 1967. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in the summer of 1972 at St. Matthews Baptist Church, Greenville, North Carolina under the leadership of Pastor Hattie Mae Cobbs. At the very start, he was regarded as a "Little Preacher" for how he encouraged his elders to praise and worship a “True and living God!” Since those early years, Dr. Hargett has remained an active member of various denominations and congregations throughout his walk with Christ.
During his teenage years, he explored various religions and faith. Which now totals more than 45 years of experience as a Lay Leader, Worship Leader, Assistant Pastor, Volunteer Manager, and Servant Leader. He is a graduate of Malcolm X Shabazz High School of Newark, New Jersey, and has earned several prominent professional certifications during his 25-year military career. Educationally, he attended American Military University, Texas Central College, and ultimately earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Practical Pastoral Counseling from Open Arms International Bible College and Seminary, Atlanta, GA in August 2009. To diversify his vast technical knowledge he completed a Bachelor of Science Degree with DeVry University in Technical Project Management in January 2017 and works in the private sector in robotics.
Dr. Hargett is a well-received, articulate, powerful, inspirational orator and is an extraordinary teacher of the Gospel. He enjoys training and helping others to understand and operate in all gifts of the Five Fold Ministry. His witty and compassionate style of preaching and teaching combined with modern biblical perspectives educates and energizes audiences with powerful and spirit-filled messages of faith, self-reliance, and personal responsibility. His unique perspective and delivery on life, as well as, empowerment for spiritual development are simply unparalleled.
Dr. Hargett was consecrated and installed as Bishop by Apostle Dr. Jerry Herron, Presiding Prelate of Open Arms International Faith Assembly in October 2010 and affirmed to the Apostleship in June 2014. Under his leadership, he has instituted a host of Millennium Ministry Concepts (MMC) that have continued the building of God's people around the world. After several of his ministry mentors and leaders made their transition, having heard and being directed by God, and to establish cohesive ministry protocols Eternal Life Fellowship Ministries & Global Network was established in January 2019 by the merging of four independent fellowship organizations.
He carries a mandate from God to "E5" Evangelize, Enlighten, Enhance, Educate, and Empower individuals through a holistic approach that is consistent, practical, and realistic (CPR) which allows the application of God’s word that allows all to penetrate and demonstrate God’s power and authority in all aspects of life (Mind – Body – Soul). Dr. Hargett was honored as one of the Most Influential African Americans of Lake County, Illinois by The People's Voice in 2020 and has received many certificates and awards denoting his support of initiating various church and volunteer activities throughout the world.
Dr. Hargett encourages believers and non-believers alike to continually expand their knowledge of God by discovering & developing their treasures, talents, and gifts for God’s calling in their life. Using a singular annual scripture throughout the fellowship he focuses those under his charge to operate three-dimensional (UP–IN–OUT) as in Romans Chapter 12 and Ephesians Chapter 4 whereas concentrating biblical resources on assisting all of God’s people in gaining greater clarity through the word of God that supports the whole person through Ministry in Action.
Apostle Dr. Michael L. Hargett is married to his High School Sweetheart, the former Katie Dickerson of Newark, NJ. He and his family live by Matthew 6:33 (NIV) "Seek first kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
